The time has come for a few changes in my life… Some big ones. I was recently accepted to graduate school at NYU Stern, the alma mater of our head honcho Jennifer Baum, and will be starting school at night, after work, in a few weeks. Class until 9pm and group projects on the weekends – to stay sane I’ll need an abode within walking distance of Washington Square. Thus, when my lease is up next month, I will be moving. Not only will I be moving myself, my personal belongings, and my first NYC memories, I will be moving all my go-to locations for my life needs. For most big decisions, a Pros and Cons list always helps organize thoughts and maps out the best course of action. Here is my initial Pro/Con list for moving to the West Village.
For coffee:
I will be trading in my weekend Grande Skim Redeye Misto from Starbucks for a private label Guatemalan drip from Mojo on Charles St. (I love local, Pro for West Village)
Mojo, 128 Charles St

For drinks with girlfriends:
Eataly Birreria serves the largest glasses of wine from oak casks that are just so necessary after a long day at the office. Luckily it’s still close to Bullfrog & Baum, so I won’t have to give that up. (Neither Pro nor Con)
Eataly Birreria, 200 5th Avenue

For local date night:
So long inoteca, hello Spasso. Solely for the insanely delicious statella served with grilled bread, this is a hands down winner for the West Village. It inspires me to learn to make my own cheese so I can have a life time supply of burrata in my possession. (Pro for West Village)
Spasso, 551 Hudson St

For lazy brunch:
No more Penelope’s (this one I’m really crushed about), but Doma on Perry St. is the cutest low key spot for any meal. I’ve only been for dinner and I look forward to what brunch has to offer. (New experiences always are a Pro—Pro for West Village)
Doma, 17 Perry St

For late night pizza:
Thank gaawwd I won’t be showing my face at Pizza Pub any more- Artichoke is way more respectable. (Pro for West Village)
Artichoke, 328 E 14th St

For take out:
I will now be in the delivery zone for Motorino and Peanut Butter & Co, two things I have been complaining about for two years. (2 Pros for West Village)
Motorino, 349 E 12th St # A

Peanut Butter & Co. , 240 Sullivan Street

The writing is on the wall- the move is the right choice, which can only mean one thing: this will be a chunky two years.
